Jennifer Burton is an Assistant Professor in Education in the TESL/Applied Linguistics Program at Concordia University, Canada. She completed her PhD in Language and Literacies Education with a collaborative specialization in Language Policy at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Her scholarship broadly centers on critical approaches to identity, ideology, and emotions in language practice and policy.
Drawing on nearly two decades of language teaching experience in diverse educational contexts in Korea and in Canada, Jennifer is interested in how our second language classrooms might become more inclusive of learners' multiple cultural, linguistic, and affective ways of knowing. |
Jennifer loves to travel, connect with others, and write about life experiences. Sometimes this writing takes the shape of academic papers published in journals, and other times it’s in the form of short stories, poetry or spoken word art. Recently, she adopted Nikee, a Jindo dog from Korea.
