Before joining the PhD program in Applied Linguistics at Concordia University (supervised by Pavel Trofimovich), Carla received her BA in Cultural Studies and Art History from Humboldt University in Berlin. After completing her German teaching certification at the Goethe-Institut, she pursued an MA in Linguistics and Literary Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, specializing in Multilingualism and Foreign Language Acquisition. Her main research interests include instructed second language acquisition, game- and task-based language pedagogies, classroom interaction, as well as learners’ individual differences and their effect on second language acquisition. In her free time, she likes to learn new languages and enjoys creative hobbies such as drawing.
